There are several alternative energy sources that have come into the news in the last several months. With the cost of gas and oil increasing constantly there has to be an alternative. The first is wind energy. This has been around for many years, but the problem has been that there was not a way to take the energy from the windmills back to the energy companies. The pressure of increasing cost for not only the consumer, but also the business world has made the energy company press forward and build the grids and transformers to make wind energy possible. The windmill can be seen in any area of the United States that has open areas and wind. A good example of this is the panhandle of Texas. There are also windmills that are for personal use.
The next type of energy would be solar. This also has been around for quite awhile, but is too expensive for the average person to use. In the past several years, research has found ways to lower the price of the panels that go on the roofs. The energy companies have also begun to give rebates to homeowners to encourage the use of solar energy. In the case of solar energy and wind energy there is the option of the energy companies buying back energy when the home owner has too much and doesn’t need it.
The last alternative is bio-fuel. This fuel began by using corn, but do to corn shortages there are other products that are being tested, to take the place of corn, and include algae, grasses and wood byproducts. Whatever the choice is, it is worth looking into to save money and help preserve the natural resources that are limited.
